History（ヒストリー）

始まりは、おばあちゃんのタンスのすみっこで、
見つけた不思議なバッグ。

手のひらにのってしまう大きさの、
そのまん丸のモチーフについているボタンを外すと、
スルスルとネットが出てきてバッグになりました。
使ってみると、見た目以上に収納力もあり、
レジ袋１枚分くらいの容量があります。
使ったあとは、クシュクシュとネット部分をまとめてボタンで留めるだけで
元のまん丸に収まります。空気を抜いて畳む必要もありません。

このバッグ、50年くらい前、まだスーパーなどがなく
カゴや袋を持って八百屋さんに行っていた時代のものでした。
何か「入れるもの」を持って出かけていた昔の知恵が、
今の私たちの生活にも同じように役立つと思います。

It all started when I found a curious little bag
in the corner of my grandmother's chest of drawers.

It was perfectly round and small enough to sit in the palm of my hand,
and there was a button at the top of the motif. When I undid the button,
a net came sliding out and it turned into a bag.
I tried using it, and found it was larger than I had imagined it would be -
about the size of a plastic bag like the ones you get from the supermarket.
After I had finished using it, I just had to stuff the net back into itself and do up the button,
and it was back to its original round shape.
There was no need to let any air out or fold it up or anything.
My grandmother used to use this bag about 50 years ago,
back when there were no supermarkets
and people used to take their own baskets and bags when they went to the grocery store.
I think the old tradition of taking "something to put things in"
with us whenever we go out can still come in handy in our modern lives, too.

Concept（コンセプト）

aitalist のコンセプトは、
「持っていてウレシク、使ってベンリ」。

佇まいの美しい実用品を目指しています。
使っている時も、使い終わって
コロンと転がっている姿も美しい状態であるよう
特に、収納時のサイズとネットサイズは試作、検証を重ね、
最も適切と判断した状態で意匠登録をしています。
様々な種類の糸を使い、素材の持ち味を生かした
デザインに仕立てています。
機械編みでは作ることのできない製品ですので、
日本国内の職人が完全手編みで作っています。

The concept behind the aitalist bag is that
we want people to feel good
about having one of our bags.

We aim to make practical commodities which have a beautiful presence.
In order to make a bag which would be beautiful both when in use and
when packed away in it's round shape,
we made many prototypes and paid particular attention to the size of the nets
and how much bigger they got when things were put in them.
The design we have registered is the one we determined to be optimal as a result of this process of verification.
We use various kinds of threads and create designs
that make the most out the materials' characteristics.
Because these bags cannot be made by machine,
they are all 100% hand knitted by Japanese craftspeople.

Evolution（進化）

ネットバッグからスタートしたaitalist ですが、日用品を楽しくしたいと制作の過程でさまざまなデザイン展開をするようになりました。
この編み込みデザインの編み図がクロスステッチの図案にも応用できることに気がつき、刺繍作品を手がけることに。
編み物の作品の幅も広がり、 完成品のみならずキット製品へと展開してきています。
これからも、頭の中に浮かんだ「形にしたい欲求」を実現させて進化を続けていきたいと思っています。

Starting from net bags, aitalist began with the goal of making everyday items more enjoyable. During the creative process, we started exploring various design iterations. We discovered that the woven designs could be adapted into cross-stitch patterns, leading us into the realm of embroidery. This expansion widened the scope of our knitted works, evolving not only into finished products but also into kit offerings.
Moving forward, I want to continue bringing to life the desire to shape what comes to mind and keep evolving.
